Nashville to Home

Made it to the car tonight later than I’d hoped
Started the engine, put it in drive, turned on the radio
We weren’t halfway to Goodlettsville when my wife was dozin' off
But I don’t mind, I’ll be just fine, I’ll lose myself in thought

From Nashville to home
It’s a long, long drive up 65
From Nashville to hom
Sometimes I laugh, most times I cry
Praying that this road keeps going on
I just hope it’s not the last time I get to sing my songs
And drive from Nashville to home

I’ll think about the kids we’ll have and what their names will be
I’ll think about salvation and what it means to me
I’ll wonder what my friend in North Dakota is doing now
I’ll remember all those stories that my father has passed down

From Nashville to home
It’s a long, long drive up 65
From Nashville to hom
Sometimes I laugh, most times I cry
Praying that this road keeps going on
I just hope it’s not the last time I get to sing my songs
And drive from Nashville to home

From Nashville to home
I can’t believe I get to drive
From Nashville to hom
A dream has now been realized
Maybe some day I won’t have to journey far
And I can pack up my belongings and my family in my car
And I’ll make Nashville my home
I’ll make Nashville my home
